Whether you’re constantly bumping elbows with other cooks in the kitchen or you can never seem to find the ingredients you need in your cluttered cabinets, there are probably a few things you’d like to change about your kitchen. In today’s post, we’ll explore three creative and out-of-the-box ways to make your kitchen more functional.

Kiba Studios can help you with anything from kitchen cabinet updates to full-scale remodels. Visit our estimate page if you’re ready to get to work!

How to Make Your Kitchen More Functional

Get Futuristic

Okay, maybe the idea of in-drawer outlets isn’t exactly futuristic. However, it is one of the most functional upgrades you can make in your kitchen. Unless your home was built in recent years, you probably don’t have in-drawer outlets, and you also don’t know what you’re missing!

Think about the last time you cooked a meal and needed to use your phone, tablet, or laptop to read the recipe. The outlets above your countertops are already being used for your appliances, but you need your device to stay charged while you cook (especially if you’re making something that takes a lot of time!). Having the opportunity to charge your device while you cook is an amazing luxury, and we can guarantee that you’ll never want a kitchen without in-drawer outlets once you’ve had them.

While we’re on the topic of outlets, it’s worth noting that it’s always better to have more than you need. Speak with a Kiba Studios designer about how you can elegantly incorporate more outlets into your kitchen’s design.

Use Your Walls

When was the last time you had to dig through your cabinets to find the final ingredient for a recipe? While we’re not ready to say that kitchen storage is the most important way in which you can use your space, it’s certainly a contender in the top five.

If your kitchen has a lot of open wall space, then consider adding new kitchen cabinets or open-concept shelving in order to increase the total functionality of your space. Our amazing selection of kitchen cabinets has a style and finish for everyone, and you can view just a few examples of our cabinets on this page. Alternatively, our designers can help you come up with an open-concept floor plan that allows you to showcase plates, glasses, appliances, and anything else you’d like to show off in your kitchen!

Downsize Your Appliances

When was the last time you updated your appliances? Maybe you’ve purchased a new microwave or stand mixer, but have you ever considered how much space they consume? Even when replacing appliances, many people don’t give the idea of downsizing as much thought as they should. A smaller oven and more compact dishwasher, for instance, could be just what you need to make enough room for a kitchen island.

At Kiba Studios, we like to think of ourselves as organizational experts. If you don’t want to downsize your appliances but still want to make more room in your kitchen, then just talk to one of our designers about in-cabinet organization! We can help you install lazy Suzan corner cabinets and find other ways to help you make the most out of every square inch.
